All bike requests are received and approved by the Cycling Program Director, Matt Newby.
Important Information About the Bike Program
Please note that bikes are not for everyone. It is the veteran’s responsibility to secure and care for the bike provided. We do not replace lost or stolen bikes, and all veterans must read and understand the rules outlined in the bike assignment form. The Arkansas Freedom Fund (AFF) is not a "free bike" organization; veterans must demonstrate a commitment to improving their health and lifestyle through cycling. All bikes remain the property of the AFF until one is officially purchased for the veteran through our Bikes for Troops program. If you are not actively using the bike you’ve signed out, please return it so another veteran can benefit. To apply for a bike, you must be an active AFF member and have submitted a DD Form 214.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT A BIKE
We have a partnership with Recycle Bikes for Kids, located at 717 East 10th St. in Little Rock. This is the first step for many veterans toward bike ownership. Ron King is the point of contact at Recycle Bikes. He is best reached through his Facebook page. Recycle Bikes for Kids
Veterans needing bikes to start riding, commute to work, or access the VA should sign up through our contact form. We will forward your name to Recycle Bikes for Kids. Veterans are required to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours at Recycle Bikes. After completing the volunteer work, you can select a bike to get started. If you continue riding and show progress, the bike will be returned to Recycle Bikes, and the AFF will upgrade you through our normal process.
