Arkansas Freedom Fund LogoOur logo breaks down like this:
Arkansas for where we originated and who we work for. The KIA Memorial, Purple Heart, POW/MIA emblem and the family picture. KIA for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Purple Heart for those wounded in combat action in the face of severe adversity. The family because without a family there would be no warrior support and its the family that is affected by the sacrifice of a loved one. That may never come home or suffer daily with the wounds, physically and mentally of the serviceman they love. Last the POW/MIA for those missing that may never come home and to stress that its not this war or future wars, but our support goes to all that have served and the lives and family their service has affected. |
The Arkansas Freedom Fund
Founded by Mark Leonard, with Don Kennedy and Fred Stuebe as founding board members in September 2010. After coordinating the WWP Soldier Ride Arkansas portion of Soldier Ride from 2005 through 2009. The need was there to continue after the WWP departure from Arkansas. Through their leadership and generous sponsors we have grown to what you see today.
The Arkansas Freedom Fund is driven to support our Military, Veterans, Wounded Veterans and the families that have shared in the glories and sacrifices of those who defend our freedom.
We are a non-partisan, non-political organization and do not support any political candidate. We are non-denominational but we do support one nation under God and our US Military made up of all Americans.
The AFF wants to help our Arkansas Veterans get outdoors and be active and healthy. We also assist charitable organizations in Arkansas that support our military, Veterans and families of those who served. Making it possible for Arkansas's Veterans to receive the help or direction they need and deserve.
Help us as we work to meet the needs of all Arkansas's Servicemen and women. Be apart and grow with us.
There are many programs where the government and state, do a outstanding job helping our Veterans and other programs that just fall short. When it comes to health and welfare of our Veterans, we want to fill that gap. Directing our Veterans to where support is outside our realm and how to get it.
Providing what the family needs to stay strong and together. Without the support of the family, the serviceman and the career suffers. The same goes for after the service. Without support of the family the rehabilitation and reentry into the civilian world also suffers.
Mainly focused on rehabilitative and recreational outdoor events, they are designed for the warriors to participate and experience all aspects of recovery and reintegration. We currently feature cycling, golfing, fishing, hunting, hiking, martial arts and other programs all designed to get a Veteran outdoors and active. No matter the ability, we want to make it happen. Adaptive bikes for cycling, adaptive carts for golfing, adaptive stands for hunting and guided fishing excursions. No Veteran is alone at completing their goal!
The term "Wounded Warrior" is not an organization. It is a person who served this country with honor and sacrifice. One group we try to assist and help represent are the Wounded Veterans that call Arkansas home. We get asked often but we are not the Wounded Warrior Project nor are we affiliated with them except for we have a mutual understanding on the needs of our veterans.
