AFF Freedom Anglers Program
The AFF Freedom Anglers Program is designed to help Arkansas veterans get outdoors and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of fishing. Partnering with local fishermen, we offer veterans the chance to leave the house and head out on the water for a day of fishing, whether through one-on-one trips or group outings. Our adventures showcase the best of Arkansas’s lakes, rivers, and natural beauty. Rae Brown serve as chair of this exciting program.
We're also seeking a few dedicated boat captains to volunteer for weekend trips, taking veterans and our boat out for fishing excursions. If you're interested, please contact Rae to get on the list.
If you’re a veteran and need fishing gear, we’ve got you covered! We’ve already distributed over 100 fishing poles to our members, and we’re here to help you get started.
The AFF hosts two major fishing events each year. In June, we participate in the Annual Free Fishing Weekend at Lake Dardanelle for the Bass Fishing with Heroes Tournament. Sign-ups are required for this popular event.
Additionally, we’ve teamed up with the United Methodist Men’s Group from Heber Springs to host the John Pickell Memorial Red River Fishing Day at Lobo Landing each summer. This is a highly sought-after event, and sign-ups are essential to reserve your spot.

The Freedom Anglers have had an incredible time fishing on the Little Red River, thanks to the generous support of the First United Methodist Men’s Group and Lindsey's Resort. Our veterans have enjoyed catching some outstanding trout, making for truly memorable experiences on the water. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helps make these outings so special for our veterans.
