AFF Riding Partners |
Cycling Program - Our Vision is to restore the mental and physical wellness of Arkansas Veterans through rehabilitative and recreational cycling.
Cycling has provided an outlet for many of our veterans who have been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress and other forms of combat related trauma. The AFF provides veterans with bicycles (street or mountain bike) to assist them with their rehabilitation and transition them to a healthier lifestyle. The Arkansas Freedom Fund (AFF) hosts an annual Arkansas Challenge Ride to instill confidence and promote camaraderie among AFF members. To prepare veterans for this ride, the AFF tries to provide bikes to its members based on their individual abilities and needs. These bikes are assigned to the veterans as long as they are actively cycling. At the AFF we are dedicated to helping veterans meet and exceed their mental and physical goals. During this annual event the AFF provides all lodging and food at no cost to its members. This is only possible due to generous donations from local businesses, organizations, and individuals who believe in supporting our mission. You can sponsor a veteran to attend this event and 100% of your donation will go to pay for that veterans weekend. We also try to assist our members in attending any state rides they want to participate in. After all, they have a bike that was given to them through your generous donations. Our Buy a Bike Program allows your donation to pay for the bike used by an AFF member. This budgeted program costs us an estimated $71,000. As of Jan 2017 we have purchase over $210,000 worth of cycles and supplies. Thank you for your continued support of the AFF and all Arkansas Veterans! |
Fishing Program - Helping veterans enjoy activities they once enjoyed is our corner stone. In the Fishing program we also work with groups like FamilyFishingTrips.com and the Heber Springs United Methodist Mens Group. Each of these two events provide a no cost to member for a memorable fishing the lakes and rivers in Arkansas. The mens group has sponsored an event that started with 20 people and has grown to help over 100 members and patients at the Central Arkansas Veterans Health System get out of the hospital for a great day of camaraderie and stress relieving fishing. We give fishing poles and tackle boxes to members wanting to enjoy fishing as their stress relief. In 2016 we started the Fishing with Heroes Bass Tournament on Lake Dardanelle.
This program costs us an estimated $8000.00. |
Golf Program - The Arkansas Freedom Fund provides clinics to our members and allows golf outings at reduced golf costs at courses around the state of Arkansas. We host the Freedom Golf Scramble at each year as one of our main fundraisers.
We plan additional golf outings to get our members outdoors and active. Golf Clubs for our members are at no cost to the veteran thanks to HSV donors and the great work from S&P Golf in Hot Springs Village. You may donate to purchase a set of golf club to help get a veteran on the green. This budgeted program costs us an estimated $31,000. |
Hunting Program - The Arkansas Freedom Fund works with other groups that are providing hunting experiences for veterans like Pine Bluff Arsenal Firefighters Assn, G&L Hunting Lease, NE Arkansas Wounded Warrior Hunt Group. We assist in getting our members their and equipped for an excellent hunting experience. Donations from Fidelity Information Services have helped us secure our own AFF Lease in Calhoun County. Veterans from the state can call and have a stand assigned free to them to use in any season. Donations are accepted to help with our lease care maintenance, lodging and equipment for our members to experience the Arkansas Outdoors.
This budgeted program costs us an estimated $8,700. |
Hiking Program - The Arkansas Freedom Fund Hiking Program is one more way to get a Veteran outside and active. Hiking provides an opportunity to relax and refocus. Arkansas has some of the most amazing multi-use trail systems in the United States. There are trails for wheelchairs to the most advanced hiker.
We accept donations for this program to cover lunch for our hikers, hydration systems, occasional safety equipment, and maintenance for track chairs (if needed). This budgeted program costs us an estimated $2,000. |
The estimated cost for all Arkansas Freedom Fund programs is $120,700.
