What we do for the Veterans:
What the Arkansas Freedom Fund does for our veterans. To start off in getting the veteran active, we can provide a entry level road bike or lifestyle bike to everyone. Our bike sponsor is Fuji Bikes USA from Advanced Sports in Philadelphia, Invacare Hand Cycles and Kona.
As the veteran progress to meet their physical goals we can assist on upgrading their bike and help them reach their potential. We do the same with the golf and outdoor programs.

Hopefully to build a understanding of just who is the Soldier, Airman, Sailor and Marines are that call Arkansas Home.

We hope to compile a view of the Warriors and their sacrifices so the readers have a better understanding of what makes up a Arkansan Warrior.

4-24-04 At about 4;40 We were hit by Mortar attack. After getting to the bunker. The first shirt sent me out to look for people that wasn't there. The second wave came in an I was blowed up. I got two holes in my head, lost my jaw, an my hearing. The arm got about 90 percent gone from the elbow up. Still is broke, never to heal, but by God. We would like to help out in any way we can. Yes, I an perkiest don't get along. Yes there is something that you may or know someone that can help all Vets. Do you know that the VA is stripping our 2 Amendment rights. I say this because they are me. Here is how it works. They call an ask you if your having trouble with your bills. Then they ask who you would like to have them do it for you an they pay them a little for doing it. They go back to little Rock put on the paper work that your Incompetent. An take away your rights to have a gun. Not only yours but any one that lives with you. There is bills that Congress Boozman is trying to get into law that only a judge can say that you are incompetent. The VA has done this to any where from 119,000 to 170,000 Vets an they don't know it. Help our Vets to get our rights back.

From Paragould, Arkansas.  I enlisted in the military in April 2003 because the attacks that had happen September 11th 2001. I was shipped to Iraq in July 2006 with the 875th C co. Eng. Battalion in Paragould, Arkansas to deploy an effective Combat Engineer in company to serve as a route Clearance team to help with Operation Iraq Freedom. I had been hit by 13 IED (Improvise Explosive Devices) during my tour in Iraq and our company alone found over 1500 explosive devices that the terrorist were trying to harm other forces with. In May 21, 2007 our team was deployed on a regular night mission on MSR Tampa, when my vehicle was struck with an IED, with chlorine and ammonium gases. I was air lifted due to wounds received in action and spent almost a year in the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC. The 14th explosion had done me in. I had injured my back, shoulder, pelvic, and brain. Through a lot of physical training with the doctors, and surgeries I was back to myself physical to a certain maintainable point.  But the wounds my confidence and emotional state were still wounded. I spent the next year of my life subduing myself at home and milking these wounds. I went Gear Head outfitters one day on a day out with once wife. I bought a trek 4500 while I was there thinking and hoping that I could use this as a getaway in my brain. I started riding and it became a way of life and a stimulant for each day I woke up. It gave me something to look forward to each day. I started riding to escape the pressures of life, and what happen was remarkable. Through riding I built my confidence up in myself and being active seemed to help me in ways that’s hard to imagine. My love for riding I feel saved my life and well-being.  I would like to see more injured veterans riding bikes and show them how effective it is on their own well-being. Each veteran has the opportunity and tools to a fully active life. Through Bike riding I found mine.
