The Arkansas Freedom Fund and Wounded Warriors of Arkansas commemorate Patriots Day and the events of 9-11 in an 11 mile bike ride salute.
11 Miles for 9-11. We had 11 Arkansan Wounded Warriors and Veterans riding to show their support for the victims and families of the events of 9-11. These Warriors have your support for the Arkansas Challenge ride and they give it back. To all of the Americans who's lives were changed by 9-11 these
servicemen know your feelings and share the tears. They too have served
this country with honor and sacrifice in the war on terror.
Special Thanks to our Police Support and Rolling Thunder Riders providing our escort.

9-11 First Responder March and Arkansas State Capital presentation
Story by Sylvia Matthews.
Today was a very special day, one I would not want to have missed. Seven daughters traveled to Little Rock to participate in the First Responders Parade from the Central Fire Station to the Capital Building. Shirley Goff, Mickey Stant, Linda Thomas, Joan Davis, Sheila Beatty, Susan Veal, and your Regent were on hand.

We were greeted by hundreds of firemen and women from all over the state of Arkansas. The parade began with an honor guard, followed by the wonderful bagpipes from two different groups.
Then came hundreds of the firemen, then our wounded warriors followed by the DAR and then the general public. There were many children taking part. We gave out US flags to children and adults alike.
As we turned onto Capital St. we were greeted at every intersection by out of town firetrucks with outstretched ladders holding huge American Flags and the Capital in the background.
The wounded warriors took front and center and were greeted by Major General William D. Wofford of The Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard. He and Gov Beebe personally thanked each warrior and also greeted the DAR members.
It was hot and many of the firemen buckled in the heat and were carried out. Many sought a little relief in the shade of the trees.
After a 21 Gun Volley and Taps the crowd was dismissed. It was truly a special Patriots Day.
